For this week’s #BluTipTuesday, we’re focusing on @4ocean bracelets.

#4Ocean is a global movement actively removing trash from the ocean and coastlines while inspiring individuals to work together for cleaner oceans, one pound at a time.

4Ocean began when Andrew Cooper and Alex Shultz took a surf trip to Bali. Devastated by the amount of plastic in the ocean, they set out to find out why no one was doing anything about it.

One afternoon they came across an old fishing village where fishermen were pushing their boat through piles of plastic that had washed up on shore. Could the fishermen use their nets to pull the plastic from the ocean? Alex and Andrew knew they had to create something that could fund the desired cleanup efforts.

And that’s how the 4ocean Bracelet got started.

Made from recycled materials, every bracelet purchased funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines. In less than two years, 4ocean has removed more than two million pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines. They currently operate out of multiple countries and employ over 150 people worldwide.

Up to 90% of ocean plastic pollution starts on land and enters the ocean through rivers. Plastic accumulates on the ground where rain and floods wash it into rivers and canals that carry it to the ocean. That means that conservation starts with us. Every effort makes a difference. Every bracelet makes a difference, one pound at a time.

These beautiful bracelets can be found in our very own gift shop at Dolphinaris. If you’re not local, you can order one at www.4ocean.com
